Santa Claus Adventure in Rovaniemi | 4-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Rovaniemi!

Your Arctic adventure begins the moment you arrive in Rovaniemi. Upon landing at Rovaniemi Airport, a private car will whisk you away to your hotel, where you'll settle in and prepare for the wonders of the next few days. If you're an adventurous soul, we highly recommend an optional (but unforgettable) Northern Lights Hunting Tour for 99 EUR per person.

During this 3-hour experience, you’ll be taken to the most serene, secluded spots, far away from the city’s lights, for a chance to witness the breathtaking Northern Lights—a once-in-a-lifetime natural spectacle. While the lights can’t be guaranteed, they are often visible on clear, crisp evenings. If you're lucky enough to catch the display, it will feel like a true magical moment, one that will stay with you forever. Even without the lights, the Arctic night sky offers its own beauty, as countless stars twinkle above. After your exploration, head back to your cozy hotel for a restful night.

Day 2: Reindeer Farm & Santa Claus Village Adventure

After a hearty breakfast to fuel your day, get ready for an exhilarating adventure! The morning kicks off with a snowmobile safari that will take you through the snowy trails surrounding Santa Claus Village. Feel the rush of excitement as you glide through the pristine, snowy forests, stopping along the way to admire the stunning winter landscapes.

Next, you'll visit a local Reindeer Farm for a truly authentic experience. Hop on a sleigh pulled by reindeer for a 700-meter ride through the wintry wonderland. Warm up in a traditional Lappish "kota" (tent), where you’ll be served hot Lappish berry juice and delicious cookies. You’ll also participate in the mystical Arctic Circle Ceremony, where you’ll hear the ancient Legend of Lapland. As a beautiful keepsake, you’ll receive an International Reindeer Driver’s License and an Arctic Circle Crossing Certificate.

The day continues with a buffet lunch at Santa Claus Village, followed by free time to explore the village’s many delights. Visit the Santa Claus Office, meet Santa himself, send postcards from Santa’s Post Office, and wander through the charming souvenir shops that line the village streets.

This immersive experience lasts approximately 6 hours, including 1.5 hours of snowmobiling and around an hour at the reindeer farm. The snowmobiling adventure is family-friendly, and children will ride in a sled pulled by the guide’s snowmobile. If you'd prefer to ride solo on a snowmobile, this can be arranged for an additional charge. At the end of your action-packed day, return to your hotel for a peaceful night’s rest.

Day 3: Husky Safari

Rise and shine with a delicious breakfast, then get ready for an exciting day with the huskies. You'll be picked up and transported to the husky safari starting point, where you'll meet your energetic team of huskies.

Feel the thrill of driving your own husky sled as you journey through the tranquil, snow-covered forests of Lapland. The huskies' excited barks and the soft crunch of snow under your sled create a soundtrack to this unforgettable experience. You'll receive safety instructions and sled-driving tips before embarking on the trail, which typically ranges between 14 to 20 km and lasts around 1.5 hours. Families will ride together in the same sled.

Once the safari concludes, warm up with some hot juice and cookies while listening to captivating stories about the husky farm and the role these incredible dogs play in the Arctic lifestyle. This adventure, including transfers, lasts approximately 4 hours. Afterward, return to your hotel to relax and reflect on the day's amazing journey.

Day 4: Departure from Rovaniemi

After a fulfilling breakfast, check out from your hotel and, if time permits, explore the fascinating Arktikum Museum (optional tour, not included). Located in the heart of Rovaniemi, the museum offers an insightful journey through the history and culture of Finnish Lapland and the Arctic region. Dive into exhibits that cover everything from ancient Lapland traditions to modern Arctic research.

When your exploration is complete, you’ll be transferred back to Rovaniemi Airport for your departure, taking with you the memories of a truly magical adventure.
